EXPERIENCE

Susana Ruiz joined H&A in 2009. Previously, she was an examiner with the European Patent Office.

She has ample experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, especially for European patents, as well as in preparing patentability and infringement reports. She is well-versed in oppositions, appeals and oral proceedings before the European Patent Office.

Susana has also obtained the "UPC Litigation Certificate" from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2023, the same year that the Unified Patent Court (UPC) came into force. She also has the title of “Qualified Patent Information Professional” (QPIP), issued by the “International Standards board for Qualified Patent Information Professionals” (ISBQPIP). This title recognizes her more than ten years of professional experience in patents.

Susana teaches several classes for professionals, such as the EQE preparation course and the CEIPI’s European Patent Law conferences.

She worked for the Academy of the EPO, organizing workshops and guided visits for IP professionals, judges and examiners from Spain and Latin America.

She has lectured in numerous training courses at universities and technology centres.
