On February 3, 2025, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) launched the SME Fund 2025, an initiative designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises in protecting their intellectual property (IP) rights.
This program focuses on sustainability, digitalization and global competitiveness, offering financial support for various IP rights, including trademarks, designs, patents, plant varieties, and the IP Scan service.
What grants does the SME Fund 2025 offer?
Trademarks & designs:
- 75% reimbursement on national and EU fees
- 50% reimbursement on international trademarks (Madrid System)
- Maximum: €700
Patents:
- 75% reimbursement on national and European patent fees
- Maximum: €1,000
Legal costs:
- 50% reimbursement on drafting fees for European patent applications
- Maximum: €1,500
Plant varieties:
- 75% reimbursement for EU-wide plant variety protection
- Maximum: €1,500
Who can apply for these grants?
- SMEs or self-employed professionals established in the EU or Ukraine
- Businesses engaged in an economic activity, regardless of their legal structure
- Companies that have not received other public funding for the same activities
